In 2004 a committee of volunteers supported by Renaissance Columbia decided that Columbia needed a Fall Festival.  Downtown Days began as a way to bring a variety of entertainment and vendors to Columbia residents as well as encourage guests to visit downtown Columbia.

The Downtown Days Festival is always the 2nd Saturday in October and is held on the public square in downtown Columbia.  The festival features arts and crafts vendors, a food court, 5K, live entertainment, kids’ games and train rides, Downtown Days Festival beauty pageants, Burkesville Street Bed Race and the famous Re-Enactment of the James-Younger Gang Bank of Columbia Robbery.

The Renaissance Columbia Committee’s purpose is and has always been to promote Downtown Columbia.  The Downtown Days Festival is a way for the friendly, hard-working people of Adair County to visit with neighbors and to share the beauty of downtown Columbia with visitors.
